Sustainability and Innovation
Greatly defined as the way society meet the needs of their people consistently with out changing and jeopardizing the essence of their living (environment, culture and independence), that is what is.
As we look through the range of how sustainability can be important, innovation on the other hand is also as valuable as the former in taking part of establishing the essence of sustainable system. Innovation through technology, social and institutional promotes economic development and reduce environmental and technical anxiety and more so – promote competitiveness.
Let’s just make Internet as one great example. Lives could have been difficult before this phenomenal innovation arrived. Money transfer or even mails could have been more slower.
There could have been part of this world that you might have never figured out. But here you are, sharing thoughts and messages to a person five thousand miles away. Television devastation and news from Haiti could have never reach the world and help could have been halted in coming or we could have not watch and be inspired from Dr Phil or Oprah for that matter.
Transportation – it could take a lifetime before medicine, foods and other important products to arrived in any area, or maybe never at all. Cellphones who would have thought that one could share his thoughts to a person oceans and mountains away from where he is standing from. But some of this innovation has taken some damaging effects to people and their ways of living. We should have consider this, if we put so much emphasis on the technology and forget about the basic, we are putting a lot of weights on this planet.
We should have a better understanding of how innovation can be connected with sustainability in a most possible way; whether you are using the Dow Jones Sustainability Index or the non scientific approach or companies should be committed to investing and developing safe and new technology to support sustainability, what ever it may be.
They should work closely with their customers or people to help them design or innovate ways that nature, people and innovators can benefit. We should try to stimulate learning through communication by talking to companies and individuals to share their best possible ethics and practices.
It is important that we see both Sustainability and in the right way. Just like when you focus on building a new power plant system , you shouldn’t compromise some environmental risk but focus also on making them both realized. inadequate use of nature, and the realization of human needs while conducting reasonable development, business competitiveness, and innovation of technology.
Whatever field this innovation should emerge, whether on the social, financial or technical part, it is important that the right output and sustainability is emphasize. This is what we should be doing, think about sustainability then design great innovation, change and create products so they can’t be a social, financial and technical virus. Innovation to a continuous sustainability and a better planet!
I am amazed with the innovations that we have today. It really is very helpful to humankind. Just like it really helps our body specially for weight lifters.
